How to make yellow cake
Everyone loves a good slice of yellow cake, whether it be eaten plain, or frosted with chocolate, vanilla, or any other flavor icing of your choice. This cake recipe is great because not only is it quick and easy, but it can be used for birthday cakes, muffins, and even cake pops.
Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, making sure that the temperature is not higher or lower. This will allow the cake to bake competely while turning the color a lovely golden-yellow.
Grease the pan
Grease a 9-by-9-inch pan with about half a teaspoon of oil, as this will keep the cake from sticking to the pan when it’s baked.
Cream the butter and sugar
Cream together a half cup butter and one cup sugar in a bowl. For best results, melt the butter for about 15 seconds so it’s easier to work with.
Add the egg and vanilla
Using an egg beater, add in two eggs, one at a time. This will allow them to blend in completely with the butter and sugar. Then, add in two teaspoons of vanilla extract, so that the cake can smell as amazing as it looks!
Mix the flour and baking powder
In a separate bowl, mix one and a half cups all-purpose flour with one and three quarter teaspoons baking powder. The baking powder will allow the cake to rise well.
Mix the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients
Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture, and blend well using the egg beater. Then, add half a cup of milk and stir well. For a smooth, moist cake, do not over-mix.
Put it in the oven
Pour the cake batter into the greased pan, and bake for thirty to fourty minutes. Use a toothpick to check if the cake’s done (the toothpick should slide out with no crumbs on it), and enjoy!
