Bedroom decor: How to design a Disney Cars theme bedroom

Decorating a Child’s Bedroom with the Disney Car theme can be really exciting and does not cost a lot of money. All you need is some paint, a little imagination and some decals. I just did mine and it changed the boy’s bedroom from a simple sleeping room into their own habitat of «Cars».

Creating the background was not a costly task at all, but it did require interior wall paint and a small artist’s paint kit that had about a dozen colours in it. Since this room was for two boys aged six and three, we wanted to keep the room light and lively, yet exciting.

To begin, we primed the walls in white and then put a wide piece of masking tape horizontally in the middle of each wall, and went all around the room with it. We didn’t keep it totally straight; we let it wave up and down slightly all around the room, including the door and closet doors.

Then, we painted the bottom half of the entire room, including the doors, right up to the masking tape, in green. We used a semi-gloss so that it could be easily cleaned, and we chose a grassy colour of green because we didn’t want the room too dark. As well, this would blend better with the other colours we were going to use.

Next, we painted the upper half of the room, including the doors, in a light baby blue and again, using a semi-gloss paint. Have you guessed, yet, what we were doing?

When the blue dried, we poured some of the primer white into a large empty margarine container. I used a bath sponge and tore off pieces of the sponge to make it uneven, and then sponge-painted big white fluffy clouds sporadically over the blue all around the room.

When that had dried, we removed the masking tape to reveal the roadway, and then painted on the little stripes all along it. Next, we painted small trees, flowers and even some buildings all over the green, with some of the trees extending into the blue.

For window coverings, we wanted to keep the room open and free, while still maintaining privacy and keeping it dark for sleeping. So, we placed white mini-blinds inside the frame of the window and put short, white fluffy looking sheers on top to help support the cloud effect.

The final part of the wall dcor was the colourful «Cars» decals that we placed all along the roadway. We put some on straight, some facing up and some even backwards. Since they are reusable decals, we played with them for a while to get them just right.

We selected decals rather than wallpaper because for one, they’re easier to put on and remove, and secondly because wallpaper is permanent, and thirdly because the boys liked to periodically move the decals around.

Our boys just happen to have car beds so it blended very well. We put «Cars» comforters and shams on their beds, and a huge «Cars»-shaped mat on the floor between the beds. We even painted their old white chest of drawers and their night table in the green and coloured the knobs brown.

We had a foot-long night light lamp that was the «Red Car» and we placed it on the small night table between their beds, and it just added to the theme. Then, we painted the white fins of their ceiling fan yellow to reflect the sun.

When this was completed we opened the doors to their closet, and realized that the drab white of its walls poured into the room and spoiled the effect. So, we took out our paints and tape again and decorated the inside walls of the closet exactly the same as the room. Now, when we open the closet doors, it’s an extension of our theme, and it’s beautiful.

Since all their toys are in their own room because they want to play in there, our living room is so much tidier. And going to bed is no longer a challenge; it’s something they look forward to.

A Disney Cars theme bedroom would be a fun room for any child to sleep in as well to spend a lot of time playing in as well. The first thing to consider is always the paint on the walls which would be the main change to any room. After the walls are painted one can either leave the walls with just a primary color or jazz it up with one wall covered with a «Disney Cars» themed wallpaper or perhaps wall stickers or there are even wall borders that can be purchased which are one foot strips of wallpaper which can be applied either to the tops on walls or mid way on the walls for a different affect. The pros to wall stickers would be that they are easily taken off once another change is needed in the decoration of the room into another theme. Wallpaper is a more permanent fixture, however with the wallpaper that is produced these days they too are easily removed if need be. One can also just paint the walls and then purchase framed pictures depicting scenes for the «Disney Cars» movie to be placed in strategic areas of the room.

Another thing to consider is the character in the «Disney Cars» movie which appeals the most to the child whom this room will belong. If one goes to the local store or searches catalogs one can find a child’s bed in the shape of a racing car made out of hard plastic. This would make a fun bed for any child. The racing car bed requires only one mattress verses a standard bed which requires a box spring along with a mattress. Bedding can be found in your local stores depicting a scene for the «Disney Cars» movie. Bedding which includes fitted sheet, top sheet, comforter and a standard size pillow case. Aside from the bedding is the window treatments which can either be blinds in a bright blue or red color or perhaps cloth curtains with the «Disney Cars» theme imprinted on them.

Next would be the furniture other than the bed. A child would do best to have a desk, preferably a computer desk because in this day and age a computer is becoming a must have in the schools and if a computer desk is purchased along with the rest of the furniture at the same time as the rest of the coordinating furniture it will be a match from the start rather than hunting for that one piece a year or two later when the furniture lines have changed and the exact match is no longer available. This is also true when picking a theme bed over a coordinating bed possibly a mate’s bed with extra storage space in the bottom. Next a child should have a dresser with a matching mirror always a good choice for the future when the child needs a mirror to check on their appearance. A five or seven drawer dresser would be good depending on your budget and space available. There can never be too much storage space.

Lastly there are the accessories which can be bought either on line or at your local stores. These accessories may included «Disney Cars» alarms clocks, lamps, light fixtures with the themes, light switch, covers with the «Disney Cars» theme, framed pictures which can also be used to hang on the walls, the list is endless. Along with the accessories be sure to pick up a few sets of the «Disney Cars» for the child to play with along with a few t-shirts and clothes the child can wear. There are also throw rugs one can purchase with an actually picture of a race track imprinted on it for the child to play racing games on.

Depending how wild you want to go with decorating or how subtle you wish to create the theme room it is all up to you. Just know the child who receives a room with a «Disney Cars» theme would be a very happy child indeed.

Your five year old is wanting his bedroom to be decorated in a Disney Cars Theme. There are several items that are available, along with a little creativity to bring your child’s room to life. An update in paint, wall decorations, furniture, and other items will help make this happen.

First you will want to measure the size of the room. By taking these measurements you can look for furniture that will fit within this space. Chances are that since your child has asked for a Disney Cars themed room, they have several toy cars that they play with. The first item on your shopping list will be the floor. I would suggest a vinyl flooring, as this can be cleaned up easily and take a beating from toys. There are several vinyl floors available in the colors of Grey and black. This color tends to have a concrete appearance, which would give the look of a highway on the floor. This type of floor will also transition nicely when your child has outgrown this car themed bedroom.

Once you have chosen your flooring, it is now time to visit the fabric store. Here you can find the Disney Cars theme in several different themed patterns. Pick up a simple pillow pattern and purchase enough fabric to pull these together. You will want to make a minimum of six of these. These will be tossed on the bed and dresser. This would also be the time to purchase fabric to make some curtains to fit the windows in this room. Again, be sure to measure ahead of time. This would be the ideal time to purchase a pattern for a set of eyes, as you will need them for the bed, toy box, dresser and chair.

It is now time to think about the bed. What boy would not like to have a Lightning McQueen bed? Visit a local woodworking business and have them design a bed for you in the pattern of Lightning McQueen, wheels and all. Once this is assembled, you will want to paint the bed in red and complete the car with the details that form Lightning McQueen. You may also want to discuss designing a toy box in a smaller version of the bed. Make sure you have your room measurements with you, as the professional carpenter will know what size these two items need to be. This would be the time to coordinate your wall paint with the color of the bed. By painting the walls with one of the colors that make up the car, you will have a complete look.

Wallpaper should not be used, as your child will grow out of this car stage rather soon. Paint is very easy to change

At first, of course, make that the room is free of any things,
or make a cap with old newspapers.

You can make also an sketch on the computer at first,
for with you could use as an example Google Sketch Up;
you can found this at google.

At first, the wall decoration! You could make ofcoure pictures by yourself,
but stickers would look much nicer.

(this one of course without hearts, if you wont like it.)

And of course the other pictures at this sites.
With paint you can paint over this pictures, and of course fill them with collors.
Maybe you could make a funny or real beautiful imitation of the grand canyon at the wall, with the waterfall out of the film on it. It will be much work, but the effect could be amazing!

maybe you should use one of this pictures:

By disney you could also ask for pictures! They maybe would give you stickers, pictures and you also maybe could ask for other lovely things for in the room.

By the bed, you could make a curtain before it. If there you buy a high bed, which is the most safe at a age of seven years old, you could make a cartain among the bed, were you could place the toys or bureau. It would be a lovely place to make homework if you turn older, I know that out of own expirience.

The wardrobe or dresser, you could take a wooden one, who will fit with the painting of the grand canyon. You could place a poster of cars in the wardrobe, which make it nice looking if it’s empty in the cast.

Maybe you could also place a showcase in the room and fill that with the things of walt disney who makes the dresser and bureau to full. It would be a nice place to show them.

Also, there are soft stools, who have to do with cars. You could make a nice place to sit down with this.

You maybe could use a high bed, with beneath it a bureau, that will create space. Place maybe some small and some wallstickers, or one big painting at the wall. Put against an other wall the gardrobe with a poster inside. Maybe theres now still some space left for a sitcorner and a roomplant. That gives it a nice atmosphere. Place with some sticking gum or adhesive tape a poster at the door and your room is beautifull and full. It maybe wil cost a little more than though, but it will be good.

So, you have seen the Disney-Pixar movie cars and you are ready to do some decorating. This movie has some of the cutest characters for a childs’ room, and is amazingly easy for anyone to get started.
One of the first things to do is decide on a budget. How much can you spend on this project?
I would suggest keeping in mind that this is not a theme that you will want for more than a few years and you should make many of your decisions based on how easy it will be to make changes as your child outgrows this room decor.

You may want to consider checking on the Internet to see if you have a free-cycle site in your area. This is a site people go to, to give away items they are no longer using. You can also place wanted ads on this site and request the items you need for your room. It really is a great place to get anything from blankets to beds.
Now that you have decided how much to spend you will need to choose whether you would like to use paint or wallpaper. I would suggest using paint as the foundation and adding wallpaper to give the walls texture and dimension. Paint is a less expensive option and can be easily changed later. Using wallpaper in smaller amounts rather than entire wall coverage will also be less expensive and easier to remove when the time comes.
Choosing a paint color should not take long as almost any color will go well with this decor. A personal favorite for me is a vibrant orange. This color really brings out the colors of the movie characters.
After applying paint and allowing at least twenty fours hours for it to dry you are ready to start applying your wall paper. Start with your border, to be used at the top of your wall.I would choose a wide border that has more detail than the narrow borders. Then for added dimension place another design of wallpaper on the bottom half of the wall. You should start this wallpaper a little more than half-way down the wall, at about the height of a chair rail. A few designs that I have found to be the most attractive are a cars themed border on top that has different cars characters on it and, a checkered flag design on the bottom portion of the wall.
Once the painting and wallpapering are done we are ready to focus on bedding. There are cars themed toddler beds but for older children you should just purchase cars themed bedding sets and pillows. If you want to be thrifty and have a skilled hand ,you may want to consider purchasing fabric and making the bedding yourself. You can find cars themed fabric in many department and fabric stores.
Now lets find window treatments. These too can be found at department stores but once again you can also purchase fabric and make these as well. Once the window treatments are in place you are ready for accessories.
There are many accessories available. One of my favorites is a hanging stoplight that functions as a stoplight that flashes red, yellow, and green. There are also kids chairs, posters and of course you should hang wall shelves to display your toy cars that look like the movies characters. You can also print out pictures from the movie on your computer and put them in funky frames.
Above all, remember to have fun with it. Don’t be afraid, go wild. You might just amaze yourself with your decorating ability.

With Disney cars becoming so popular especially among children, your child will like his room to be decorated with images of his favorite Disney cars. Here’s what you can do to turn his room into a beautiful place with images Disney cars.

Scrutinize the room to see if there are any repairs that need to be done to it. It is not nice to have beautiful decorations with unpleasant looking areas.Find out what you need to buy to decorate your child’s room. Basically this are the things that your require:
i. Four Disney cars posters, each one for each wall.
ii. Some Disney cars bedroom stickers.
iv. Disney cars wallpaper (optional).
i. Disney cars pillowcases.
ii. Disney cars blanket.
iii. Disney cars bed sheet.
iv. Disney cars comforter.
i. Some Disney cars stickers.
i. A Disney cars door poster.
i. Disney cars curtains.

For your boy’s laundry, a Disney car hamper.

In addition, get Blu tag or something similar to paste the posters onto the wall. Blu tag is great as it does not peel the paint off in the event you need to remove the posters.

You can either get to the shops to buy the items or get them from the Internet. Getting from the Internet is more convenient for a busy person, and it helps you save money on petrol. However, it will be faster if you can get the items personally from the shops.

Decorate the room with the items bought. You don’t have to wait for all the items to come first before starting your decoration. Here’s now what you can do to convert your child’s room into a Disney Cars room:
1. Apply blue tag to every corner of the back of each poster, as well as the left center, the right center, and the top center of it.
2. Paste a poster onto the center of each wall by pressing the part with blue tag firmly onto it. For the wall behind the bed, paste the poster above the height of the pillows or above the headboard, if the bed has one.
3. Paste a Disney car sticker on each site of the poster.
If you plan to use wallpapers instead of posters, and stickers, bear in mind that it is more difficult to remove wallpapers than posters. Also, you have to be careful not to create any «bubbles» while putting up the wallpapers. More effort is also required to put on wallpapers.
1. Paste the door poster onto it.
1. Paste some stickers onto the different pieces of furniture. You can get your child to help you here as this will make him proud as he has a part in the decoration of his own room. It is also good to paste some stickers on the headboard if the bed has one.
1. Remove everything that you want to replace from the bed.
2. Replace the pillowcases with the Disney cars pillowcases.
3. Spread the Disney cars bed sheet onto the mattress.
4. Put the pillows back properly onto to bed.
5. Cover the bed with the Disney cars blanket.
6. Cover the blanket with the Disney cars comforter if needed.
Remove the current curtains, and replace them with the Disney cars curtains.

For your child’s laundry:
Replace the current hamper with the Disney cars hamper.

Now, your child should have a room beautifully decorated with Disney cars.

Car-themed decor has been a mainstay in boys’ bedrooms for years. Today, the popularity of Disney’s Cars movie has made the love of all things automotive even more appealing with colorful, unscary, and fun characters that are perfect for a young boy’s bedroom. The array of products with a Cars theme is staggering. By combining prefabricated Cars products with more classic car elements, you can make a dream bedroom quite easily.

First, a toddler bed in the shape of a race car can be a central element to the room. Of course, red is the preferable choice as Lightning McQueen is everyone’s favorite. If possible, you can put the number 95 in yellow lettering on the side. If your child is too old for a toddler bed then stick with any standard twin bed. Next, you will want to get sheets, pillowcases, and a blanket or comforter with the Cars theme. These products are widely available, but if you can not find one element then you can at least stick with the color red and it will still fit. There are also cute accent pillows available with the Cars characters on them.

Putting up wallpaper with this theme is not recommended. Although, your child would love their walls plastered with Lightning McQueen and Mater, it is simply not practical. In just a few years, your child will have moved on to more mature decor and you will have a big job taking down the wallpaper. A practical compromise is to get a few packages of wall stickers in the same theme. Not only are they easier to change later on, but many of them are movable. Therefore, your child can help you put them up and even rearrange them, encouraging participation and creativity in the child.

Furniture pieces should also be kept simple and classic. They can be accented with items like Cars themed lamps, decor stickers, placemats, drawer pulls, and other removable items. Again, you want the furniture to be able to outlast your child’s latest obsession.

If the room has wood floors, then a rug with the Cars theme would work. Otherwise, you may be able to find a rug that has a racetrack design on it. Not only would this fit with the theme but the child can pretend it is a real racetrack with his toy cars. By the way, some strategically placed Cars toys can serve double duty as decorations in the room.

Finally, remember to include items that will encourage keeping order in the room. A toy box with either Cars characters on it or a plain one which can be accented with decor stickers will keep toys in check. Something to hang coats on can be put on the wall. If you can not find anything with the Cars theme try getting a plain wood pegboard and using paint and stencils to fit your theme. To keep laundry in check, a Cars hamper with a lid will make your kids want to clean up.

As with any themed decor, if you can create a scene that will bring comfort and joy to your child while keeping it flexible enough to update as he grows, you will not only make your child happy now, you will make your self happy later.

one, they’re easier to put on and remove, and secondly because wallpaper is permanent, and thirdly because the boys liked to periodically move the decals around.

The popular Disney movie Cars provides lots of inspiration for creative parents who may be seeking to encourage their children to sleep in their own beds. The Disney Cars theme can even be expanded in order to teach children important vehicle safety rules. It is easy to design your Disney Cars theme room even if you are on a tight budget, which is especially important these days.

There are, of course, the official Disney designed beds for toddlers and beds that resemble race cars which expand from a toddler size to twin size for approximately $300. These furnishings have matching tables, chairs, and toy boxes and cost around $30 for the table and chairs and $80 for the toy boxes depending on the style. Also available are twin sized sheets sets with the Disney Cars theme, along with various sleeping bags, pillows and bath sets.

If you are on a budget, these top dollar items can add up quickly, but you can create just as much excitement about the Disney Cars movie theme bedroom by taking just a few short cuts.

The floor: If you own your own home and it is possible to paint on the floor, you can simply paint a race track or road way along with trees, stop signs, rail road crossings, school crossings, bridges for use with the cars and truck that your child already owns. The scene can either be an imaginative scene, a recreation of the Disney Cars scenes or your own neighborhood. If you can’t paint directly on the floor, you may want to consider buying one of the many race track or neighborhood themed rugs that are available or create your own by purchasing a white rug and using fabric paint to create your individual rug.

Curtains: Of course, there are Disney Cars matching curtains available however if you are on a budget, you can either purchase black and white checkered material and make your own curtains or purchase the Disney Cars themed bed sheets and spread out the usefulness of the set by using the top sheet to make curtains. You can then use the bottom sheet elsewhere in the room.

The Walls: If you can paint on your walls, your imagination is the only limitation. Consider using 3-4 inch shelving to continue the road way on the wall. The road way can run up and back down the wall onto the track on the floor and the cars can be displayed on the track that is on the wall when not in use. If you rent this may not be an option, but there are many other Disney Cars wall decorations available or you could also use part of that bottom sheet to create your own wall decorations. A nice touch are some simple black and white checkered flags crossed and hung on the wall along with a steering wheel purchased from a junk yard and some inexpensive lug nut covers.

Bedroom Furniture: If purchasing the Disney Cars bed is not an option, you can paint the currently owned bed or maybe recover the head or foot board with the part of the Disney Cars sheet set. Suggestions for paint would be black and white checks or red and blue. You can then use the Disney Cars stickers to finish off. You can also purchase Disney Cars placemats which can be glued to the head and footboard. A toy box can be redecorated to resemble a tool box with a little black or red paint and some metalic peel and stick paper that which can be purchased at almost any hobby shop.

Linens and additional items: You can purchase a less expensive red or blue sheet set to go with the Disney Cars pillow cases and you can use the aforementioned Disney Cars bottom sheet to make additional pillows or purchase a plain table and chairs. You can recover the top of the table with the rest of the bottom sheet from the Disney Cars bed set, make a table cloth or simply purchase a couple of Disney Cars placemats. You may want to visit your local automotive parts store for additional inspiration.

However you decide to decorate your child’s Disney Cars room, the effort you put into it will be your child’s true gift and he will remember that for years to come.

If your children were anything like mine, five minutes after watching the Disney movie Cars for the first time, they began begging for every Cars product they saw in the store. And if you are anything like me, your saw the price tags on many of these products and your eyes almost popped right out of your head! Here are some ways that you can still spoil your little sweetie with a room makeover in a Cars theme without bankrupting their college fund in the process!

STEP 1: TAKE INVENTORY

First, take an inventory of what your child already has in their room. If they currently have the essential bedroom furnishings, there is no need for you to run to the store and purchase new! With a little creativity and a few things you may already have lying around the house, you can easily revamp these items to compliment the room’s new look.

STEP 2: A DRESSER THAT FINISHES FIRST

Give your little one’s dresser a checkered flag finish that will rev their engine! If the dresser they currently have is not white, paint the dresser white with spray paint. You will also need a permanent black marker, a ruler, and a yard stick. With your ruler or yard stick and black marker, measure the sides, top, and bottom of the front of your dresser drawer and top of dresser. Place a dot every 2 inches vertically and horizontally. Then, using your yard stick, connect the dots with the marker (side to side & top to bottom). This will form your guide for the checks. Starting with the top row put a small mark in every other square starting with the first square (this will remind you which ones are to be colored in). In the next row put the marks in every other square, starting with the second one in. Continue moving down the drawer or top of dresser, repeating the pattern until all rows are complete. To fill in the marked squares, begin at the edges and working your way in using vertical strokes. Allow the marker to completely dry and recoat using small circular motions until the black is solid and no white shows through. After the squares have thoroughly dried, a clear coat can be applied for added durability. This technique can also be used to decorate the top of the desk and the back and seat of the chair.

STEP 3: A TOY BOX RACE TRACK

For a toy box that will make them bust a gasket, start by spray painting the base of the piece white and the lid yellow. Next, apply a pair of two inch wide strips of tape horizontally across the center of the lid leaving a two inch pace between them. Then repaint the repaint the lid using black spray paint. Once the paint has dried, just remove the tape to reveal a roadway to fun!

STEP 4: BOOKSHELF CUSTOM PAINT JOB

It’s easy to add power to your child’s boring black bookshelf. Remove the shelves and tape off the front edge. Cover the sides, top, and bottom of the bookcase with newspaper and tape off front edges to protect them from over-spray.

Evenly coat the top & bottom of the shelves and inside of the bookcase with white spray paint. More than one coat of paint may be necessary, but remember to allow the appropriate amount of drying time between coats as indicated on the can. Remove the tape and newspaper, replace the shelves, and voila! Your speedy little reader has a bookshelf fit for McQueen!

STEP 5: A BED WORTH RACING TO

A new racecar bed will rev your kid’s engine, but at more than $300, your budget may stomp on the breaks. Keep an eye on local classified ads. Second hand racecar beds are a fraction of the cost of a new bed. If you want a custom paint job that would make Ramone jealous, just spray on a few coats of plastic friendly spray paint and add a few decals! Complete the look by purchasing a Cars comforter and coordinating it with a cheaper sheet set in a solid color.

STEP 6: DETAIL THE ROOM

Now that you have all the right furniture, it’s time to think about the room. To avoid spending a massive amount of money on transforming this space check your local paint store for «oops» paint or discounted paints. Look for colors that will compliment the Cars theme. Primary colors work well, but consider earth tones such as chocolate brown and tan for a Mader look or light blue for more of a Sally flare.

If you are thinking of adding pricy wallpaper bear in mind that a child’s tastes change as fast as new movies come out! Consider going with a less expensive wall border or removable wall decals instead. This will not only save you hassle when Disney comes out with their next hit movie, but it will also save you money!
