How to pick the best dress for your body type
Do you stand in front of the mirror for 10-15 minutes holding your stomach in, wishing for a bigger chest, and or sucking in your butt trying to figure out will you be able to fit into this new outfit for an upcoming event? You literally go crazy searching for that perfect fit for your body size and shape. I can understand ladies because I have written and re-written that same story many times before, but not any longer. Follow these styling guidelines and worry no more! We must first understand that everyone comes in different body shapes and sizes. First, knowing your body shape/size is the absolute key to learning how to pick the best dress for your body type. Are you a pear-shaped woman? If so, wear lighter colors on the top and darker colors on the bottom. This draws less attention from the problem areas. Tight skirts/pant are fashion no no’s for this shape. Boot cut pant and flared skirts hide the bulges and heaviness of the lower half. Wrap-around dresses accentuate the small upper half of the body making the lower half look sleek and not so large.
Calling all apple-shaped women! This shape requires loose, but sexy fitting clothing. Wearing a v-neck top draws attention to the neck-line and away from the mid section. Pencil skirts and straight-legged pant are definitely a highlight for this shape. Avoid tight jeans which can make the bottom appear wider and more bulky looking. Again, you don’t want to draw attention to the problem areas, instead turn them into a positive attribute. Wear straight flared dresses and also adding a dark colored waist belt won’t hurt. Your styling now girl!
Comparing the right color to your skin tone is the next important step. If you have a dark skin toned complexion then bright yellow, lime green, beige, orange, and gold are not the colors for you my dear. Try to wear sharp, clear colors such as navy blue, or light blue, black, soft red, pastel pink or even hunter green. Colors like these enhance the skin tone adding elegance with every stride. If your not sure what color goes best with your skin tone then pay a visit to Macy’s or JC Penny’s. These department stores have experts at the make-up counter’s who can help you determine what color is right for you with lipstick and make-up testing. Last but surely not least, enjoy your new look and remember; we ALL are different in many ways and if we were all the same just imagine how boring this world would be.
