How to get rid of chapped lips

Get healthy and kissable lips

Chapped lips are uncomfortable, unsightly, and a hassle to handle. Achieving healthy and kissable lips is an easy task with just a little bit of lip balm, time and some TLC. Like many situations, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure when treating chapped lips. Once your lips are irritated and dry, they are much more difficult to treat. The trick is to catch your lips before they make it to the irriated, burning or peeling stage.

There are hundreds of lip balms on the market like the popular Chapstick, Burt’s Bees and Blistex. Finding the right balm for your lips might take a little trial and error, but once you’ve found your ideal protection, you’ll be saved from chapped lips forever.

Step 1

Prevention of chapped lips is very important. At the first sign of chapped lips, start the healthy lip regime.

Step 2

Find the right lip balm

Lip balms can be costly which is why it is important to find your ideal balm as soon as possible. Some find the medicated ones are a little more powerful and offer relief quicker. Other people find that the cooling lip balms are more effective because they give your lips a slight tingle which lets you know it is working. Whichever you prefer, this will be a trial and error process in the beginning.

Step 3

Once you’ve found the correct lip balm for your lips, apply it liberally to your lips.

Step 4

Grab the toothbrush

Once you’ve applied the lipstick, grab your toothbrush and gently brush in circular motions on your lips. This will help to exfoliate your lips of all the dead skin cells.

Step 5

Wipe off the lip balm

Once you’ve exfoliated your lips, wipe off the excess lip balm.

Step 6

Reapply lip balm

Lastly, reapply your lip balm. Always apply it before entering the blistering cold or sun. The best kind of lip balm is one that has SPF as it will prevent any damage that the sun may incur.

Step 7

Try Vaseline

A lip balm doesn’t seem to be doing the trick? Then try using some Vaseline on your lips. Vaseline is a wonderful trick for those who have chapped lips. Cover your lips with it before bedtime and you’ll be sure to wake up to beautiful healthy lips.
