How to use yogurt for skin care

Take advantage of the healing properties of yogurt

Yum! Yogurt! Everyone loves the taste of yogurt as a dessert after lunch or as a topping for cereal or a whole host of different foods. It is also an ingredient in numerous recipes. But did you know that yogurt is one of the best products you can use for taking care of your skin?

The pro-biotics in yogurt work wonders for cleansing your body and aid in curing yeast infections. These same properties help to unclog pores making the skin of your hands and face feel silky and smooth. It also leaves your skin with a healthy glow.


Step 1

Rub yogurt on your acne

When you enjoy a small dish of yogurt, leave a little in the bottom. Take this to the bathroom and rub it on areas of your face where you have acne pimples. Massage the yogurt into your skin. Wash it off with clear warm water.

You can also use yogurt in this way to prevent pimples from occurring. Rub a small amount over your clear skin.

The zinc in yogurt will help cure pimples and prevent them from re-occurring.

Step 2

Use yogurt for your lips

If you suffer from chapped lips, yogurt is an exceptional healing agent that will keep your lips moist. Rub a small amount of yogurt over your lips, four times a day. Not only will you be able to smile without experiencing pain in your lips or breaking open a sore, but you will also enjoy the taste on your lips.

Step 3

Yogurt makes great hand cream

Make your own hand moisturizer with yogurt and lemon juice. Mix a cup of yogurt with the juice of a fresh lemon. Let this chill in the refrigerator for about an hour. Use it as hand cream rubbing it over your fingers and nails and both sides of your hands. Rinse off the yogurt with warm, clear water.

After a week of using this cream even as little as once a day, you will see a noticeable difference in the softness of your hands. Your cuticles and nails will also look quite healthy.

Step 4

Make yogurt part of your nightly routine

As you go about your usual bedtime routines, use yogurt instead of commercial face masks. With its zinc and lactic acid, it will help remove dead skin cells and smooth out the wrinkles in your skin as well as cleanse the pores. Spread the yogurt evenly over your face and gently massage it into your skin. Let it sit there for 20 minutes and then gently wash it off with clear warm water.

• Yogurt containing fruit, such as blueberries, will give you the added advantage of the antioxidants contained in the fruit.
